WILLIAM A. KOLB, J.D., is a 1976 graduate of the University of Chicago, a 1983 graduate of Cambridge University, and a 1997 graduate of George Mason University School of Law. Bill served as a Foreign Service Officer for 6 years before preparing for a career at the bar. Bill's career background as a diplomat assists him when he conducts commercial or familial mediation and practices collaborative divorce.
The primary focus of Bill's practice is estate planning and elder law. The goal of estate planning is to leave your assets to those individuals or organizations you select in a manner which is appropriate for them and which minimizes transfer costs. For many clients this includes the creation of family trusts.
Elder law recognizes the unique requirements of seniors, which include provision of health care and personal living arrangements as well as legal advice, and helps seniors maintain their independence as long as possible, bringing in whatever level of assistance may be required to achieve personal life goals.
Bill can also assist clients in matters such as the purchase, sale and financing of residential real estate, creation of domestic partnership agreements, business formations, and the protection of assets from creditors. In all areas of his boutique practice, Bill seeks to promote the welfare of individuals and families.
